A number of manufacturer's have recognised the problems of projector theft from schools. Even with
security cages or other devices, thieves are still managing to get away with the projector (on
occasion - even complete with the cage).
Orange coloured projectors with a range of additional security features are being designed
especially for educational use. It is hoped that the criminal element will eventually realise that
orange projectors are just not worth stealing and anyone on the lookout for a cheap one come to
realise from where it was stolen and that the chances are - they just won't work.
Security features range from removable control panels which can be locked away leaving the
teacher to operate with a basic remote. Unplug the power and the projector can only be started
with it's own coded panel. Others feature internal alarms, various stages of PIN codes,
customisable and PIN coded start-up screens and so-on.
